Lotte Kjoeller as photographer
Lotte Kjøller's photos are mostly nude sketch photos or art photos. I have walked in my childhoods shoes in visual art and I am a skilled painter, so I work with photography as a visual artist with different colours and different shapes. I am not concerned whether the technique is 'correct'. The most important thing is the expression. I like the 'crooked' photo where the "mistake" is a part of the final expression. I do not manipulate the photo but use my camera's lenses and low light to achieve the right expression. I do not manipulate my photos muth but I try to capture the right shot and moment with the camera.

Artist Statement by Lotte Kjøller
About
I, visual artist Lotte Kjøller Friedel Therkelsen, was born on January 30, 1966, in Denmark. I am the daughter of the photographer Finn Cristian Friedel Christensen, known as 'Skipper,' from, among others, Køge Photography Club. My father won several awards worldwide for his photos, including the Codan Golden, and participated in Denmark ex. in the Artists' Autumn Exhibition several times. My father is distantly related to Adam Friedel, a well-known Jew and Danish general who fought in Greece. After that Adam Friedel then went to England and made a name for himself as a lithographic portrait artist. This is where my middle name 'Friedel' and my talent come from.
With such a father, I chose a different path to art. I became a visual artist. Not until long after my father died did I dare to do it again with photography. When you have had a father who takes up so much space, you need to have your own way of doing things. He was so skilled. Now it's me who is skilled. My past and future as a visual artist and artist in general benefit me when I take photographs. I have my very own style and I am not afraid to provoke or reproduce the ugly. I not only exhibit with photos in Denmark, but they have also found their way around the world.
My father was also a provocateur, and I must admit that I resemble him a lot. Both my mind and the way my body ages resemble him. The art I work with is in line with the art in my family; we work with the human being. See this artist statement from Lotte Kjoeller:
"Our body is the home of our soul and it is completely natural - with and without clothes. All bodies, regardless of age, color and gender are beautiful. Here in life we humans undergo a transformation. Both we and our body are changing. We humans must struggle to achieve our wishes and afterwards come out stronger - and beyond in life. In art, our naked body symbolizes vulnerability and honesty. This is depicted here in motif, colour, height, depth & effect. The style is abstract-expressive with figurative layers like Bonnard and Cobra - and the colour symbolic and sparkling with silver / gold stresses."

Models required
I use nude models - both men and women - while painting in my studio. If you would like to be my model, you are welcome. But you should know, that I do not pay my models with money, but by a work once in a while. If you are interested, you can contact me by mail – but be serious!

Do you want to exhibit my photoes?
My photoes are often used as a supplement to, for example, my paintings and schulptures at an exhibition or an ornament. But they can easily fill an exhibition alone. My photoes are between A4, A3 or A2 and cost between 1000 and 14 000 kr. My paintings are almost always acrylic on canvas in size from 20x20 cm to 1.2x1.5 m, and the price is from approx. 1500 to 40,000 DKK by size. The lithographs cost between 800 and 4000 DKK depending on size, number and how many printed colors. Drawings cost framed approx. 3000 kr. I am framing my works with a silver frame or wooden frame, unless there is no frame for the work at all.
I exhibit in galleries, art associations and other exhibitions evenly distributed throughout the year. If you would like to exhibit my art, feel free to contact me to arrange time, place and details. For art associations, I will exhibit in return for a purchase of min. DKK 4000 per mrd. If the exhibition venue is far from Copenhagen, we must negotiate the transport. It's a good idea to be in good time when I exhibit all year, and are planning a long time. Galleries, art associations and other interested parties are welcome to contact telephone, mail or letter. It is possible to buy a work of art directly from the website. Feel free to contact me via email if you would like further information in the form of a work ex. title, size and price. If it is not possible for you to come to Copenhagen personally to see and download the artpiece or the sculpture, I can send the drawing, sculpture or painting to you - if you pay the costs. You pay me beforehand and once I have received the money, I send the work of art carefully with the postal service (if possible) or another secure shipping option.
